IWM Partners with ACEN in Sustainable E-Waste Management

As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Integrated Waste Management (IWM), a subsidiary of AC Logistics, has welcomed ACEN as its new partner in taking significant steps towards responsible electronic waste (e-waste) management. This pioneering initiative within the Ayala group is part of IWM and ACEN’s broader efforts to promote circularity and minimize environmental impact.

In collaboration with ZOLO Philippines, experts in sustainable IT assets processing, IWM is set to manage the e-waste procured from ACEN. Through this partnership, e-waste will be repurposed, reused, refurbished, recycled, or resold, ensuring it does not end up contaminating the environment in landfills.”

The e-waste turned over by ACEN includes used computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, and printers. By responsibly managing these items, IWM is taking part in the solution of critical global concern of e-waste, which poses substantial environmental and health dangers. According to the Global E-waste Monitor 2024, the Philippines ranks among the top e-waste generators in Southeast Asia, generating 537 million kilograms of e-waste in 2022 alone.

Joseph Anthony Quesada, head of commercials at IWM, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “A significant amount of value is lost when electronics and electrical equipment are not properly managed at the end of their use. Through this partnership with ACEN, we can ensure that these assets are given new life by being redirected into sustainable, circular value streams. Our goal is to make this a long-term initiative with ACEN, driving a positive impact for both the environment and the business.”
