GMAC Opens a Cold Storage Facility in CDO

Delivering on its commitment to ensure food security and preservation in the country’s cold chain corridor, GMAC Logitech Refrigeration Corporation (GMAC) has opened a new cold chain storage facility in BrgyTablon, Cagayan De Oro.

GMAC is a joint venture between AC Logistics and Glacier Megafridge, Inc., a leading cold storage service provider. AC Logistics is Ayala’s portfolio company for logistics solutions services, providing end-to-end supply chain solutions through its subsidiaries.

GMAC CDO is the company’s first cold chain project outside of Luzon and its first in Mindanao. Construction began in 2022 and the facility was built to store up to 5,348 industrial pallets. It is now ready to serve northern Mindanao, where there is increasing cold storage demand in various industries. It will also help ensure food security in the area as it seeks to become a key player in the region’s economic development.

The opening ceremony held on June 19 was attended by government agencies, GMAC’s local and national clients, international partners, and suppliers. In a statement, the City Government expressed hope that the facility will “boost local farmers’ preservation of agricultural products and crops, ensure best quality of harvests, and, ultimately, prevent unnecessary wastage.”

GMAC CDO is inaugurated on June 19 by AC Logistics President and CEO and GMAC Director Rene Almendras, AC Logistics VP for Business Development Janet Bautista, GMAC COO Carlos Villanueva, GMI President and GMAC Chairman and President Arturo Yan, GMAC CFO Annabel Yu, and AC Logistics Chief Commercial Officer and GMAC Director Nona Torres.

“We are sincerely proud to be partnering with Glacier Megafridge in helping our stakeholders ensure food security and preservation in Cagayan de Oro. This is only the start of a very meaningful venture and we look forward to aggressively expanding our cold chain solutions across key areas in the Philippines,” Almendras said.
